• The Canucks were outshot 35-14, but they beat the Senators in Ottawa 2-1. Vancouver's 14 shots matched the Canucks' lowest total ever in a win, something they did three previous times: vs. the North Stars in March 1979 (won 2-1), vs. the Devils in January 1998 (won 3-1), and at St. Louis in February 2003 (won 4-2).
• Nashville has beaten Columbus three times in the last seven days. It's the second time this season that the Predators beat the Blue Jackets three times in such a short span (the other instance was from Nov. 15 to 20). It's the first time in NHL history that one NHL team did that to another twice in one season.
• Roberto Luongo is 10-1-0 with a 2.05 goals-against average, .938 save percentage and one shutout in 11 games since the Christmas break. Luongo's 10 wins are the most by any goaltender over that span.

• Brad Richards scored two goals and a shootout goal against Martin Brodeur in Tampa Bay's win over New Jersey. Prior to Thursday night, Richards had scored only two goals in 16 career regular-season games against Brodeur.
Brodeur has lost his last three shootouts (to Atlanta on Dec. 19, the Rangers on Jan. 2, and Tampa Bay on Thursday night, with all three games played at the Meadowlands), after posting a 12-4 career mark in shootouts prior to this stretch. Brodeur has allowed 11 shootout goals this season, the most in the NHL.
NBA
