" Dikembe Mutombo grabbed 22 rebounds for Denver Friday night. Mutombo is the oldest player in NBA history to grab 20 or more rebounds in a game. The previous "record" was held by Hakeem Olajuwon, who grabbed 20 rebounds in a game in November 2001, about two months shy of his 39th birthday.
" The Knicks, who beat the Warriors on Friday night, have alternated wins and losses over their last 11 games, the longest such streak in the NBA this season. It's the fourth time in Knicks history that they did not have a two-game winning streak or a two-game losing streak over an span of at least 11 games. They also did that in 1979-80 (an 11-game streak), 1997-98 (15 games) and 2003-04 (11 games).
" Stephon Marbury scored 34 points and Quentin Richardson had 30 for the Knicks in their win over Golden State. It was the first time that the Knicks had two players with 30 or more points in an non-overtime game since Marbury and Keith Van Horn turned the trick Jan. 31, 2004
" Michael Redd scored 21 points in Milwaukee's victory in Toronto on Friday night. The Bucks are 19-20 in the 39 games Redd has played this season, averaging 103.4 points per game and shooting .478 from the field. Milwaukee is 3-17 in the 20 games Redd has missed this season, averaging 93.4 points per game and shooting .437.
" Amare Stoudemire has now scored 20 or more points and had 10 or more rebounds in each of his last six games. Only three other players in Suns history had six or more consecutive 20/10 games: Charles Barkley (four streaks of at least six games), Connie Hawkins (three) and Shawn Marion (once).
" Shaquille O'Neal scored 31 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in Miami's victory over Detroit. It was the 105th game of 30 points and 15 rebounds in O'Neal's career, by far the most among active players. Shaq's teams are a whopping 79-26 (.752) in those 105 games.
" Tyson Chandler has now had 11 straight games of at least 10 points and 10 rebounds. Only one other player had as long a streak in the NBA this season: Kevin Garnett has had two such streaks this season, one for 13 games, the other 14 games in length.
" Manu Ginobli hit five 3-point baskets in the third quarter of San Antonio's win over Orlando on Friday night. Ginobli tied the NBA's season high for 3-pointers made by a player in a quarter this season. Six other players did it: J.R. Smith, James Posey, Raja Bell, Ray Allen, Mike Miller and Jason Kidd.
" Sidney Crosby became the youngest player in NHL history to reach the 200-point mark with a first-period goal in the Penguins' loss at Carolina on Friday. It took Crosby 142 games to reach that plateau. In the NHL's "modern era," only three players got to 200 career points in fewer games than Crosby: Wayne Gretzky (117), Mario Lemieux (128) and Peter Stastny (131).
" Former Thrasher Dany Heatley scored the only two goals for the Senators in their 4-2 loss in Atlanta. It was Heatley's 10th multiple-goal game this season, the most of any NHL player. (Marian Hossa and Teemu Selanne each have nine.) The 10 multiple-goal games also match Heatley's single-season high, a mark he set with the Thrashers in 2002-03.
" Andrew Raycroft was the starting goaltender for the Maple Leafs in New Jersey on Friday night. It was the 26th consecutive start for Raycroft, the longest streak by a Toronto goaltender since Bruce Gamble started 30 consecutive games in 1969-70.
" Yanic Perreault began his third stint with the Maple Leafs on Friday night. Four other players had three separate tenures with Toronto (with games for other NHL teams in between): Wendel Clark, and old-timers Harry Cameron, Babe Dye and Ben Grant.
" The Devils led Toronto by two goals entering the third period but squandered the lead and lost in a shootout. Before Friday, New Jersey had won 44 straight games in which it led by two-or-more goals entering the third period.
" Two "Original Six" teams battled when Chicago visited Detroit on Friday night. It was the 687th regular-season game between the teams, the most for any matchup in NHL history.
" Nicklas Lidstrom scored his 200th regular-season goal in Detroit's 6-2 win over Chicago on Friday night. Lidstrom, who has spent his entire NHL career with the Red Wings, is the eighth defenseman in league history to score at least 200 goals for one team, joining Ray Bourque (Bruins, 395), Denis Potvin (Islanders, 310), Bobby Orr (Bruins, 264), Brian Leetch (Rangers, 240), Doug Wilson (Blackhawks, 225), Al MacInnis (Flames, 213) and Paul Coffey (Oilers, 209).
Lidstrom's goal was also the 100th power play goal of his career. He's the ninth defenseman in NHL history to reach that plateau. The only other active backliner in that exclusive club is Rob Blake, who has 118 PPGs.
" The Sabres, 8-5 winners over the Canadiens on Friday night, have scored at least five goals in each of their last five games. It's the longest such streak for Buffalo since January 1991 (also five games), and one shy of the franchise record which the Sabres have done three times, last in October 1975.
" Dallas lost to Columbus in a shootout on Friday night. It was the fourth straight game that went to overtime for the Stars, tying a franchise record set in January 2006.
" Sergei Fedorov scored a goal for the Blue Jackets in their shootout win in Dallas. It was Fedorov's 33rd career goal against the Stars franchise, tying him with Brendan Shanahan for second-most among active players, behind Jeremy Roenick (37). The only other active player with at least 30 goals against the Stars is Teemu Selanne (32).
" Pennsylvania beat Yale on Friday night and became the first team to qualify for the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The Quakers are 13-24 (.351) in 37 NCAA Tournament games, the third-worst record in tournament history among teams that have played at least 30 games, ahead of only BYU (11-24, .314) and Princeton (13-27, .325).
Penn has lost its last eight NCAA Tournament games, tying them with Holy Cross for the third-longest current losing streak, behind Murray State (11) and North Carolina A&T (nine).
" Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer is reportedly considering retirement. Plummer's passer rating dropped from 90.2 in 2005 to 68.8 in 2006. In the last 30 years, four other quarterbacks had a rating of 90 or higher in one season and then a rating under 70 the following season (minimum: 200 passes each year):
