A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:

NBA

Michael Redd
Redd

• Michael Redd made only 3 of 16 shots, 18.8 percent, on Monday against the Magic after scoring 52 points on Sunday against the Bulls. In the last 50 years, the only other player to shoot under 20 percent from the floor in the game after a 50-point game was Vernon Maxwell. Mad Max scored 51 points on Jan. 26, 1991 against the Cavaliers and in his next game, against the Spurs, he made only 2 of 16 shots, 12.5 percent. Before Maxwell, the last player to do it was Neil Johnston for the Philadelphia Warriors in February 1954.

• With Monday's win, the Heat is 30-29, putting them over .500 for the first time since they were 3-2. The only other defending NBA champion that spent that many consecutive games under .500 was the 1969-70 Celtics, who never made it over .500 the entire season. Special mention goes to the Bulls, who spent all 50 games of the abbreviated 1998-99 season under .500. Those two teams -- the 1969-70 Celtics and 1998-99 Bulls -- are the only defending NBA champions that did not make the playoffs.

• The Warriors racked up 111 points at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Monday, the most points by a Pistons' opponent in a non-overtime game in that building in over five years, since Jan. 8, 2002, when the Lakers defeated the Pistons 121-92.

• Richard Hamilton was held to six points after having scored in double digits in every game he appeared in this season. That leaves four players who have scored at least 10 points in all of their games this season: Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Kevin Garnett.

• The Jazz scored 120 points on Monday, their most at home in a non-overtime game in the post Stockton-Malone Era. Since the dynamic duo left Utah after the 2002-03 season, the Jazz's most points in a home game had been 116, on Jan. 26 this year against Denver. The last time Utah scored 120 or more in a home non-OT game was on Dec. 9, 2000 against the Warriors, a 125-114 win in which Malone had 25 points and Stockton had 14 assists.

Tracy McGrady
McGrady

• Tracy McGrady made only 10 of 32 shots, 31 percent, in the Rockets loss to the Cavaliers on Monday. A player has attempted at least 30 shots in a game 35 times this season; McGrady's field-goal percentage on Monday was the lowest of those 35 games.

NHL

Rick DiPietro
DiPietro

• The Rangers had 57 shots on goal but scored only one goal in their shootout win over the Islanders on Monday. That's the most shots by a team that scored 0 or one goal in over 50 years, since Oct. 9, 1955 when the Maple Leafs had 59 in a 3-1 loss to the Blackhawks behind goaltender Al Rollins.

The Rangers' 57 shots tied the most for either side in a Rangers vs. Islanders game. The Manhattanites had 57 shots in a 5-2 win on Nov. 11, 1973, the Islanders' second NHL season.

Rick DiPietro's 56 saves were the most ever in a regular-season game by an Islanders goaltender and the most by a goaltender on any team since Roberto Luongo made 57 saves for Florida in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Red Wings on Feb. 27, 2002.

NFL

Thomas Jones
Jones

• The Bears have reportedly traded Thomas Jones, who has run for at least 1,200 yards in each of the last two seasons, to the Jets. In NFL history only two players have run for at least 1,200 yards in back-to-back seasons and then started the following season with a different team. The Broncos traded Clinton Portis to the Redskins for Champ Bailey before the 2004 season, and Edgerrin James left the Colts for the Cardinals before the 2006 season.

College Hoops

• Gonzaga won the West Coast Conference tournament on Monday for the fourth straight season. They are the only Division I team that has won its conference in each of the last four years. No other team has a chance to extend its streak to four this year.
