A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:
" The Mavericks' 17-game winning streak came to an end with a 117-100 loss to the Warriors. The last team to have a winning streak of 15 or more games snapped by a loss by 15 or more points was the 1994-95 Spurs, whose 15-game winning streak ended with a 20-point loss to the Trail Blazers on April 11, 1995.
Another Mavericks' streak came to an end Monday: They had won the last 30 games in which they scored at least 100 points. Their only loss of that kind this season was also to the Warriors, 107-104 on Nov. 6. Only two other teams in NBA history won as many consecutive games in one season when scoring at least 100 points: The 1995-96 Bulls had a 38-game streak and the 1971-72 Lakers had a 33-game streak (which was also their NBA-record 33-game winning streak).
To put it another way: The Mavs are 0-2 when scoring at least 100 points against the Warriors this season and 30-0 when scoring at least 100 points against any other team.
" Mike D'Antoni won his 200th career game in the Suns victory over the Rockets on Monday. The sweet part for D'Antoni is that after two seasons, his career record stood at 35-76, a .315 winning percentage. Of the 68 other coaches who have won at least 200 games in the NBA, only two had lower winning percentages after two seasons: Bill Fitch (38-126, .232) and Kevin Loughery (27-86, .239).
" Yao Ming made only 1 of 9 shots on Monday, tying his worst shooting performance in any game in which he took more than two shots. Yao also went 1 for 9 against the Spurs on March 27, 2003.
" The Bobcats recorded assists on 39 of their 42 field goals on Monday, 93 percent. Over the last 50 years, only two other NBA teams have made that many shots in one game, while having an assist on such a high percentage. The Bulls had assists on 46 of 49 field goals in a 124-105 win over the San Francisco Warriors on Nov. 15, 1969; and the Nuggets also had assists on 39 of 42 shots in a 116-102 win over the Knicks on Feb. 16, 1977.
" The Grizzlies lost to the Nets on Monday after Memphis had defeated the Bobcats on Saturday. Monday's loss means that 65 games into the season, the Grizzlies still have not had a two-game winning streak. Only three other teams in NBA history have gone this many games into a season without winning back-to-back games: the 2004-05 Hawks and 1986-87 Clippers each went through the entire 82-game schedule without winning consecutive games; the 2002-03 Cavaliers didn't have their first until their 69th and 70th games of the season.
" The Raptors won in Milwaukee on Monday 108-93. It was Toronto's fifth road win by at least 15 points this season; they had only four such wins over the previous five seasons combined.
" Coyotes' goaltender Mikael Tellqvist shut out the Flyers on Monday in his (and the team's) first game after allowing five goals and being yanked after the first period against the Blackhawks on Saturday. Tellqvist is the first goaltender in the NHL's modern era (since the red line was introduced in the 1943-44 season) to have a shutout the game after allowing five (or more) goals in the first period and being pulled from the game at that point.
" Alexander Ovechkin scored his 40th and 41st goals of the season in the Capitals' loss to the Thrashers on Monday. Ovechkin, who scored 52 goals last season, is the ninth player in NHL history to score at least 40 goals in each of his first two NHL seasons.
Ovechkin is the second European born-and-trained player to score at least 40 goals in each of his first two seasons, joining Sweden's Kent Nilsson, who had 40 goals for the Flames in 1979-80 and 49 in 1980-81. He's the first player to do it, regardless of nationality, since Eric Lindros had 41 goals in 1992-93 and 44 in 1993-94.
" Since trading Ryan Smyth, the Oilers have scored only five goals in seven games, and they've scored no more than one goal in each of their last four games, including a 5-1 loss to the Kings on Monday. That's the fewest goals over any seven-game span in Oilers history and their streak of four straight games with no more than one goal ties a team record set in November and December 2003.
However, the Oilers scored only one goal in Smyth's last game for Edmonton. Their six goals over the last eight games ties the fewest over an eight-game span for any NHL team over the last 50 years. Four other teams had six goals over eight games, the 1974-75 Capitals, 1976-77 Red Wings, 2001-02 Avalanche and 2002-03 Flames.
