The daily exploits of the White Sox occupy the most powerful mind on the planet, which is why we think the South Side deserves a bump to first-class status. Sure, the scenery beyond the outfield walls is hardly suitable for Architectural Digest, and the stadium gets knocked for having been erected right before the cozy-like-Camden craze. But management is in makeover mode. "The Cell has undergone renovations in every off-season since 2001," says Larry of Southsidesox.com, citing new green seats in the Lower Deck that replicate the Old Comiskey (except for where Paul Konerko and Scott Podsednik hit their 2005 World Series homers). Unfortunately, the White Sox play of late has been anything but presidential. "The team is playing like horse dung," says Larry. "But when 85-87 wins will probably take the division, it's a bit early to be pressing the panic button." Chalk up that perspective to a 17-win improvement last year and to Ken Williams' mastery of the wheel and deal (John Danks and Carlos Quentin, anyone?). Sure, Jake Peavy might have preferred bringing it for the Cubs, but if ponying up 15 bones a game ($15.47, to be exact) less than the North Side boys isn't enough to give Pale Hose supporters the last laugh, then here's one more dig: Blagojevich is a Cubs fan.
