The average stub to see the Minnesota nine costs a modest $21.70 -- but that number doesn't tell the whole story. Savvy fans take advantage of daily deals, including Half Price Tuesdays, when $21 Home Run Porch tickets sell for $10.50; dollar hot dog Wednesdays, when students get in for $4; and Thursdays, when a seat in the Home Run Porch comes with a free Dome Dog and soft drink. Kids love Justin Morneau fishing-lure night and the Joe Mauer back-to-school backpack giveaway almost as much as adults love saying good-bye to the Metrodome. This fall, after 27 years of operating as a half-football, half-baseball, fully frustrating facility, the Dome -- and its sketchy turf, hanging speakers and white roof where fly balls go to die -- will draw its last artificial breath as the Twins home yard, giving way to the highly anticipated Target Field next season. The new open-air stadium with natural grass will feature open concourses twice as wide as the Dome's, wider seats with more legroom and more aisles with fewer seats per row. While the capacity at the Twins' new digs will decrease from 55,300 to 40,000, the number of restrooms will increase from 448 to 667. That alone might be good enough to make fans flush with pride in their new digs.
