The Harlem Globetrotters -- and the Washington Generals -- will both have a new offensive wrinkle when they begin their world tour later this year.

The 4-point shot will debut on Dec. 5, when the Globetrotters and Generals meet at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World in Florida (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2). The shot -- from one of two designated areas about 35 feet from the basket on each half of the court -- is 12 feet longer than an NBA 3-point attempt.

It will next be seen Dec. 26, when the Globetrotters and Generals open a 220-city North American tour, which will see the teams in 46 U.S. states, plus six Canadian provinces. The tour -- the 85th in team history -- wraps up on April 17.

The Globetrotters have not lost to the Generals since 1971.

Two Globetrotters -- Dizzy Grant and Scooter Christensen -- will chat on ESPN.com on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. ET. To join the chat, click here.
