KC fans are used to being in the middle. After all, no pro sports team is closer to the geographic center of the contiguous U.S. (Lebanon, Kan.) than the Chiefs, who finished just south of the midpoint in this year's rankings thanks to middling numbers in nearly every category. Take coaching, for example. On the one hand, Arrowhead patrons are pleased that temperamental Todd Haley (19-26) is gone. But they're less than thrilled that his replacement is Romeo Crennel, whose .388 career winning percentage is the lowest among active NFL head coaches. When it comes to players, Chiefs cheerers are feeling chipper about the return of Jamaal Charles, who missed nearly all of last season after being the league's second-leading rusher in 2010. That said, they're disenchanted enough with Matt Cassel that they booed him during pregame intros for the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game (held at KC's Kauffman Stadium). And what about fan relations? On the positive side, the team is celebrating its 50th year in Kansas City by giving all season-ticket holders a personalized jersey (choose your name and number) and staging a five-city tour featuring legend Len Dawson and the Lombardi trophy from Super Bowl IV. The negative? It's a painful reminder that the Chiefs haven't been to the big game since.
