FedExField is melting. The NFL's formerly most-populous stadium shed about 8,000 seats last season and is ripping out 4,000 more -- all in the name of "party decks." Bold move considering the Redskins brass still pretend they have a sellout streak of 40-plus consecutive years. Of course, never let the truth (like the 68,370 announced attendance on Christmas Eve) get in the way of a good story. Sadly, all the spin in the world can't cover up that the closest metro is a mile away from FedEx (a tad of an issue for a mostly winter sport) and the franchise does anything to squeeze cash from its diehards, such as hawking $6 Donovan McNabb soda cups (breaking news: McNabb is not a Redskin). As for Dan Snyder, Malcolm Gladwell put it best when he wrote, "He has subsequently run the Redskins like a petulant 14-year-old fantasy owner." Sure, Snyder spent a whopping $135.1 million in the uncapped 2010 season, but the Skins have trotted out eight opening day QBs since 2000 and have two playoff appearances to show for it. Hopefully Robert Griffin III can end that trend, but it took an entire franchise to get him (three first-round picks and a second-rounder). After the Redskins' six-game losing streak (longest since 1998) DeAngelo Hall said: "The way I'm playing right now, they need to go cut me, because I'm definitely not worth what I'm getting." As for true for fans, what they've been getting is definitely not worth it.
