What does ESPN stand for?
It doesn't stand for anything, but the story is this ... When ESPN started in 1979 we were the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (thus, ESPN). However, the full name was dropped in February 1985 when the company adopted a new corporate name, ESPN, Inc., and a new logo. ESPN is a subsidiary of ABC, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Co. The Hearst Corporation has a 20 percent interest in ESPN.

What is the difference between ESPN Classic and ESPN Classic Sport?
ESPN Classic launched in the US in 1997, bringing viewers the greatest moments in sport.

In 2002 ESPN brought ESPN Classic Sport to Europe, dedicated to showcasing the greatest moments in sport, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and showing an addictive mix of full-length matches, highlights, profiles, documentaries and sports films, with a distinctly local emphasis.

ESPN Classic Sport France launched in March 2002, and is available on all major cable and satellite operators in France.

ESPN Classic Sport Italy launched in July 2002, and is available on Sky Italia.

ESPN Classic Sport Europe launched in December 2003. This English-language channel is available across Europe.
