Miroslav Klose seizes top spot

For the second week in a row, a World Cup player has secured the No. 1 spot in our "Cross-Sport Power Rankings." Germany's Miroslav Klose booted off last week's top vote-getter, Gonzalo Higuaín, by making quarterfinal play look easy against Higuain's Argentina squad. In addition to routing the Argentines 4-0, Klose made his way to the top of our list by connecting for his 13th and 14th career World Cup goals, bringing him one goal shy of tying the mark for most goals scored in World Cup history.

At No. 2 and No. 3 are Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams, which should be no surprise as both added another Wimbledon title to their ever-expanding résumés. Rounding out the top five this week: Spain's scoring machine, David Villa, and Miroslav Klose's German teammate, Thomas Müller.
