Whether passing deep, inside the pocket or out, Newton -- the No. 1 NFL draft pick -- excelled across the board. On throws of 15 or more yards in conference games last season, Newton completed almost 50 percent of his passes for 7 TDs and 3 INTs. Inside the pocket, he completed almost 68 percent of his passes for 14 TDs and just 3 INTs in conference. Outside the pocket, he had a 66.6 percent completion rate.
In the Game 7 win, Luongo stopped 31 of 32 Chicago shots -- including eight up high -- to help the Canucks get past the Blackhawks. Coming into the game, Chicago regularly torched him up high, scoring 10 of their goals (62.5 pct.) in that manner. But in Game 7, Chicago was unable to get any through Luongo up high.
Zobrist had a doubleheader to remember against the Twins, collecting seven hits, driving in 10 runs and hitting a homer in each game. Zobrist's homer-to-fly ball ratio ranks him among the top power hitters in baseball. Six of Zobrist's seven home runs have come on pitches up in the zone.
All seven of Jones' field-goal attempts in the Heat's 99-90 win over the Celtics came without taking a dribble. Jones converted five of those seven attempts (all from 3), and scored a playoff career-high 25 points. Overall in the playoffs, 32 of Jones' 36 field-goal attempts have been catch-and-shoot plays, including transition.
