The Lead Item
Two Words For You:
KEYSTONE.  SHOWDOWN.

You've got the MVP candidate and the rookie.

You've got T.O. and Plaxico.

You've got the undefeated Eagles and the one-loss Steelers. Who wins? Three points to watch:

1. Eagles have outscored opponents 65-20 in the first quarter.

2. Eagles RB Brian Westbrook is questionable.

3. Steelers did beat undefeated Pats last week, but have otherwise played an easy schedule.

Prediction: Big Ben finally has a luckluster game, T.O. grabs TD pass in 4th quarter and waves a terrible towel. Eagles 17, Steelers 13.

More NFL subplots
Patriots (6-1) at Rams (4-3): No Ty Law, other injuries mean Rams could expose Pats D.

Texans (4-3) at Broncos (5-3): Houston suddenly chasing playoff spot.

Saints (3-4) at Chargers (5-3): New Orleans 31st in defense. Another big day ahead for Brees?

Chiefs (3-4) at Bucs (2-5). Only to see how many TDs Priest Holmes gets.

Spurrier: No to Florida
The ol' ballcoach removed his name from consideration to return to Florida, saying his time there has passed. (We'd suggest his time in the NFL has also passed, although rumors exist about replacing Dave Wannstedt in Miami.)

As for the Gators, the two names surfacing the most are Louisville's Bobby Petrino, who flirted with Auburn last year, and Utah's Urban Meyer.

Kurt Busch: Wins Busch pole, leads NASCAR Chase
Dwayne Wade: 28 points as Shaq's sidekick
... AND WHO'S GOT NO MO'
Tiger: 1st tourney after marriage, 5 shots out
Alex Rodriguez: Gets booed at Miami Heat opener
Wally Backman: More bad stuff; fire the guy already

College Preview
Which team's BCS bubble is most to burst? No. 2 Oklahoma squeaked by OSU last week. Another road game at Texas A&M means another upset possibility.

Except: Didn't the Aggies just lose to Baylor? Didn't they lose 77-0 last year to OU? Isn't Adrian Peterson's Heisman campaign in full rampage now? OU by 14.

The other big game:

Minnesota at No. 4 Wisconsin: Gophers' dynamic duo of Laurence Maloney (1,030 yds) and Marion Barber (881 yds) against Badgers' tough D (68 pts in 8 games).

Shaq's Home Debut
It was the hottest ticket in Miami since the Panthers reached the Stanley Cup Finals in '96. Among those present: Alex Rodriguez and Mike Piazza.

Shaq didn't disappoint before the biggest home crowd in history, scoring 17 in 32 minutes to beat the Cavs. His hammy isn't 100 percent. Let's just hope he rests it enough before that Christmas day game against the Lakers.

Bobcats Debut
ESPN.com's Chad Ford's says Charlotte won't be the worst team in NBA history (which means they have to win 10 games), but the Bobcats blew a fourth-quarter lead to lose 103-96 to the Wizards.

The good news is top pick Emeka Okafor had 19 points/10 rebounds. The bad news is team investor Nelly wasn't present to sing the national anthem.

Scott Boras:
Says Carlos Beltran wants 10-year deal. Well, these negotiations are going to be fun.
