USC vs. Texas is the game of the decade, the game of the century, the game to end all games ... er, well, it's at least the most-anticipated college football game we've seen in a long time. But will the game on the field match pregame the hype?
Last year, for example, No. 1 USC and No. 2 Oklahoma both entered the Orange Bowl 12-0 ... and the Trojans laid a 55-19 lickin' on the Sooners. In the 2000 Sugar Bowl, Florida State walloped Virginia Tech 46-29. In the 1993 Sugar Bowl, No. 2 Alabama upset No. 1 Miami 34-13.
In other words, No. 1 vs. No. 2 in a bowl game doesn't always produce a classic (check out this list of greatest bowl games ever, which Page 2 ran a few years ago). But here our eight of the best 1 vs. 2 matchups from bowl history (based upon AP rankings entering the game). Which one is greatest? It's all a party in our final matchup as the 2003 Fiesta Bowl takes on 1987 Fiesta Bowl.
Vote early, vote often ... then go home and watch the Rose Bowl.
