Your alma mater? Upset by No-Name Tech. Your adopted Cinderella? Pummeled by Big-Name U. Your carefully chosen, game theory-informed brackets? Toast by Monday morning.

Here's the thing about the NCAA tournament: It's irresistible, unpredictable and designed to break your heart. Even if you root for Duke. Only 68 teams make the field. Sixty-seven of them get eliminated. Which means, as a fan, you're usually left playing March Madness musical chairs, looking for the next team to cheer on.

Perhaps your school lost. Maybe it was left out on Selection Sunday. Could be it's still alive, only you're nervous and looking for a safety school. (Princeton fan? We suggest the Blue Devils.) Whatever the case, a college basketball fan needs options.
