Game 5 in Boston with Celtics and Suns tied 2-2. One overtime, then a second, at the end of which John Havlicek goes coast-to-coast to put it away for Boston, up one with one second left. Suns have no timeouts, but – genius! – Paul Westphal calls one anyway, drawing a T, but giving Phoenix the ball at midcourt. Then: The Heard Shot Round the World! Gar Heard hits a halfcourt heave to force a third OT, longest playoff game ever. C's win 128-126.

You could feel the electric-blue pain in Isiah Thomas' ankle. It was splashed on his face and in every step and dribble and jump shot he took. The Pistons needed a win in Game 6 for their first NBA title, and it was theirs ... almost. Isiah shot and winced. He scored and limped. With the chainsaw digging into his leg, Zeke got the Pistons to within one point of victory. Miraculous, unconscious, courageous ... but not victorious. And then LA won Game 7.
