By Louise K. Cornetta Page 3 How do you top breaking an 86-year curse in a four-game sweep to win the World Series? Well, you don't. But Red Sox right-handed pitcher Bronson Arroyo managed to find his rhythm off the mound as well. From cruisin' Mexico to making music and attending gala events, Beantown's rising star made the most of his offseason. Arroyo shared his photo album and commentary on his experiences with Page 3's Louise K. Cornetta:
Cruisin' Mexico![]() Me, my buddy Tito and friend and teammate Lenny DiNardo went on a Red Sox cruise in Costa Maya, Mexico in January. In this photo, we just finished playing catch on the boat, of course, trying to stay in shape. Throwing on the cruise was hilarious. We were playing catch while other people were trying to play shuffle board -- it was a fiasco. ![]() This is me and Lenny again. That day, we played catch on the beach and then went kayaking. We had just gotten back and I was really cold -- I know it looks like I'm striking a pose -- but I was just really cold and was standing against the concrete wall to get warm! And my sister took the picture. If our teammates see this, Lenny and I will never hear the end of it!
Hot Stove, Cool Music![]() This was Peter Gammons' Hot Stove, Cool Music gig in January. You can't really see them, but I'm playing with Clint Walsh and Eric Gardner of The Motels. We rehearsed two days before the gig, playing for two or three hours the first day and eight hours the next. On Saturday night, we played an acoustic set for a small crowd and then, the big show was Sunday night. The event was a huge success that raised close to $150,000 for the Jimmy Fund. ![]() The experience was kind of surreal. At one point, a girl ran on stage and kissed me! It was pretty funny because I didn't even see her coming or know what she looked like. At the time, I was talking to the crowd and telling folks about us signing the previous year's CD. Then, I saw this girl coming at me out of the corner of my eye!
Grammys![]() My wife, Aimee, and I attended the Grammy Awards on February 13. This is the view from the skybox. We could see the stage, the big screen, and the background while the show was going on. During the offseason I made a record called, "Covering the Bases." It's a compilation of 12 of my favorite songs -- all cover songs. So, my producers set it up for me to walk the red carpet, which was cool.
But it was a little weird to be hanging out with Leonard Skynard and M.C. Hammer. Actually, it was hilarious. I met a lot of musicians including the lead singer from Evenescence, Amy Lee, and her boyfriend, Shaun Morgan, from Seether. Shaun Morgan wrote the song "Broken," which was one of the songs I sang at Peter Gammons' event. " Yeah, I did the red carpet thing. And the show was OK, but I would have rather have seen it on TV.
