Phil IveyUnited States
Perhaps forgotten in the shadows of Greg Merson's double main event and Player of the Year victories was Phil Ivey's incredible run at the WSOP in 2012. Ivey made five final tables in less than two weeks, and though he fell short of earning a bracelet, he once again left his mark on the poker world. Ivey, ranked the No. 1 player in ESPN's The Nuts, can win in any variation. As he's voiced his dedication to catch up to Phil Hellmuth in the bracelet race, we expect him to be active at the Rio all summer.
Earlier this year at the WSOP Asia Pacific, Ivey became the youngest player to win his ninth bracelet. He's just one bracelet back from the iconic duo of Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson, and while there are some who are willing, we wouldn't bet against the game's best from reaching double digits this summer.
