Elezra defeats Nguyen for first bracelet

Although Eli Elezra is a familiar face on TV, he was without one very important piece of jewelry: a WSOP bracelet. Mainly a high-stakes cash game player, Elezra headed into the final table of Event 24 on Saturday (seven-card stud high-low split world championship) and defeated one of the game's best, Scotty Nguyen, for the title.

Elezra won the Mirage Poker Showdown on the World Poker Tour in 2004 and was previously a commando in the Israeli army. The 46-year-old from Henderson, Nev., is an professional poker player.

This was Elezra's first bracelet after 12 cashes. His previous best finish was sixth place which he obtained in two different tournaments.

Other notable finishers include Dutch Boyd (third), David Sklansky (fifth), Thor Hansen (sixth), John Cernuto (ninth), Michael DeMichelle (12th), and Marcel Luske (13th).
