It was a little out of the ordinary when play was stopped Monday night for a ten-handed final table. Phil Hellmuth was dead last at the time and all ten players returned on Tuesday to finish off Event 28, $3,000 no-limit hold 'em. This would be Hellmuth's first attempt at winning his 12th bracelet, but he came up short, eliminated in sixth place by Beth Shak. Although he didn't set the bracelet record, with his 39th final table Hellmuth ties TJ Cloutier for most all-time final table appearances.

Coming into the final table, Dustin Holmes was the chip leader, followed by Shak, Brett Richey, Perry Friedman, and Shankar Pillai. Out of those five, it was Pillai who walked away with the bracelet and $527,829 besting Shak heads-up. On the final hand, Pillai and Shak pushed it all to the center after a 10-8-3 flop. Pillai showed A-8 while Shak turned over K-8. Two blanks later, Pillai had won earning the first cash and bracelet in his career.

Other notable finishers include Ed Moncada (13th), Thomas Wahlroos (14th), Scott Bohlman (15th), and Norm MacDonald (20th).
