Schreiber wins heads-up event

In a field packed with the biggest names in the world, it was Daniel Schreiber, a 21-year-old student from Seoul, South Korea who defeated Mark Muchnik for the $5,000 heads-up bracelet on Thursday.

Schreiber, who had never cashed in a prior WSOP event, defeated Muchnik by winning both matches in the finale to earn $425,594. In the finals, a player must win two out of three matches to claim the title. The first match took 79 hands while the second lasted only 11.

The field of 392 players was the largest heads-up hold 'em tournament in history.

Other notable finishers include Vanessa Selbst (fourth), Shannon Shorr (seventh), Toto Leonidas (eighth) and Paul Wasicka (ninth).
