Mizrachi denies Brunson 11th bracelet
With everyone's focus on Doyle Brunson and his attempt to tie Phil Hellmuth by winning his 11th bracelet, it was Robert Mizrachi winning his first bracelet and $768,889. The $10,000 pot-limit Omaha event has become a favorite of the pros creating a field filled with the top names. With 314 players turning out for this event, the star-studded final table wrapped up on Tuesday night, but Brunson was not the last man standing.
Mizrachi is a common name when it comes to poker tournaments and final tables. Robert's younger brother Michael, also known as "The Grinder" has made numerous final tables, but Robert's bracelet comes as the first for the family.
Although this was his first victory, Mizrachi had quite a WSOP. With five cashes, he made three final tables in a variety of games including HORSE, Omaha, and hold 'em. His extremely impressive performance ended up giving him over $870,000 for the WSOP.
Brunson, who made his first final table in over two years, went out in sixth place after only a few hours of play on the final table. Everyone in attendance saluted Brunson's performance with a standing ovation.
Other notable finishers include Patrik Antonius (third), Marco Traniello (fifth), David Chiu (tenth) and Andrew Bloch (11th).
