The first of the two "Weekend Warrior" events from the third weekend of the World Series of Poker concluded early Tuesday morning with 31-year-old Kirk Caldwell earning his first WSOP cash and first WSOP bracelet. Caldwell outlasted a field of 2,828 players to win $668,276 and become the eighth player of the Series this year to make his first WSOP cash a bracelet victory. The $1,500 no-limit hold 'em event was the third on the WSOP schedule and second-largest of the three behind Event 18.

Joe Smith/PokerNewsAmateur Kirk Caldwell won the $1,500 no-limit hold 'em Event 32.

Caldwell, from Orangeville, Ontario, became the fourth Canadian to secure a victory in 2011. The salesman earned the buy-in for the seat from a satellite with his friends and turned a tiny investment into, according to the champ, life-changing money. His friends who he plays with in Canada are not only thrilled for their friend to have earned such an incredible accomplishment, but they're also happy as 15 percent of the top prize will be distributed among the group.

The final table of Event 32 played out in entertaining fashion with five players being eliminated during the first hour. Alan Stevens (ninth) and Kyle Cartwright (eight) hit the rail on the same hand, falling to Marc McLaughlin who spiked a key card on the river to make the best hand. Cartwright had earned three WSOP Circuit titles so far in 2011, but this was his first WSOP cash.

Shortly after the double knockout, Gabriel Miron knocked out Rodrigo Portaleoni in seventh and Caldwell shocked Randy Haddox by flopping a queen with Q-Q against Haddox's K-K. This was Haddox's best finish out of his two WSOP final tables and 10 WSOP cashes. Caldwell jumped to the top of the chip count after winning the key confrontation and continued to build his stack by flopping two pair against Dror Michaelo and enticing Michaelo to move all-in.

Morin was eliminated by his friend McLaughlin in fourth and with three players left, Caldwell took over for good after one pivotal hand. After a flop of 3h-2h-9c, the two big stacks of Caldwell and McLaughlin got all the chips in the middle. Caldwell tabled Jh-9h for top pair and a flush draw and he was ahead of the Kh-5h of McLaughlin who needed either a heart or a king. No help came and McLaughlin was in dire straits as an ultra-short stack. He managed to put up a fight, but Caldwell would finish the job and eliminate him in third place.

After less than 30 minutes of heads-up play, Caldwell won one final race with 8-8 against Ben White's A-Q and earned his first major win.

Other notable finishers include Adam Geyer (13th), Josh Brikis (23rd) and Dan O'Brien (84th).
