Name: Pa'tell Troutman
Position: QB in college, RB, WR or DB in NFL
School: Div. I-AA Bethune-Cookman (Fla.)
Vitals: 5'11", 200 pounds, 4.42 in the 40
Stats: Junior year (1999) threw for 1,042 yards and rushed for 1,023 for a
combined 16 TDs while leading the Wildcats to their first back-to-back
winning seasons in 15 years. He is B-CC's all-time leading rusher with 3,638 yards.
Notes: Pa'tell expects to go as high as the third round. But if he does fall into the Mr. I zone, Troutman's appeal to a war room is his athleticism and versatility. He could remain at QB or be converted to RB, WR, kick returner or even a DB. Which, to an NFL front office, makes him five picks for the price of one. "I'm an offensive threat -- a receiver, tailback, return specialist," he says. ... Should he make it, he might not like the NFL travel, however. A native of Daytona Beach, Troutman grew up on Jefferson Street, right across from the practice fields at B-CC ... NFL Hall of Fame guard Larry Little, the power source behind the great Dolphin rushing attacks of the '70s, went undrafted after attending B-CC ... Wildcat coach Alvin Wyatt says Troutman is among the top 30 athletes in all of college football. That could give him a 215-pick cushion.
