Case No. 20, Seattle Mariners
Page 2 staff
Even without A-Rod, Junior and the Big Unit, the Mariners have been ruthless "Replacement Killers" in the American League.
After a tight three-way battle, "The Replacement Killers" snuffed out competition from the "Sultans of Safeco" and "The Coffeehouse Gang" in our poll to choose catchy nickname for the Seattle Mariners.
In this week's case of The Berman Files, "Replacement Killers" (23.3 percent) eclipsed second place "Sultans of Safeco" (22.6 percent) by a little more than 25 votes. "The Coffeehouse Gang" finished third with 21.7 percent of the vote after more than 3,600 ballots were tallied.
Earlier this week, Page 2 readers filled our mailbag with more than 1,400 letters suggesting nicknames. Below at the best ideas we received for the Mariners.
Check back next week for another case of The Berman Files.
