NHL 2001-02 third jerseys

Page 2 staff

Since 1995-96 various NHL teams have been testing their fashion sense and trying to boost their merchandising revenue by introducing third jerseys to complement their regular home and away sweaters.

It's almost a misnomer to call this a third jersey anymore. Some teams have tried this so often, they could soon be on their third third jersey.

Some have eventually become replacements for road sweaters (Penguins, Flames, Flyers and Capitals) or have prompted the team to redesign its home and away uniforms in the style of the once-alternative jersey (Stars, Blues and Sharks).

This season, the Canucks, Oilers, Sharks, Avalanche and Predators have unveiled new third jerseys. Take a look at these alternate jerseys below, and vote at left for the one you think is the best of the bunch. Then check out separate polls to determine the best and the worst alternate jerseys from 1995-96 to before this season.
