What was Grady Little thinking?

Page 2 staff

Hey, we don't make the news. We just read it and shake our heads in amazement.

And over the last couple of weeks, there's been a whole lot of shakin' going on here in Page 2's offices. Things are just just too darn weird in the world of sports and popular culture. So once again, we come to you for help in making sense of it all with another edition of "What the Heck Are They Thinking?"

We've done our best to come up with some plausible explanations for these goofy developments. The rest is up to you. Check out the options for each questionable act or quote, and vote in the poll to move on to yet another stranger-than-fiction true scenario.

What the heck was Red Sox manager Grady Little thinking when he let Pedro Martinez pitch deep into the eighth inning as the Yankees came back to tie, and eventually win, Game 7 of the ALCS?

Needless to say, Grady shouldn't put Game 7 on his Mensa application.
A. "I can't help but think I'm forgetting to do something . . . Did I leave the iron on?"

B. "Anybody who doesn't like this decision can take it up with our groundskeeper."

C. "I've been a little preoccupied trying to explain to Dave Wallace how to TiVo 'Skin.' "

D. "When I was little, all my friends used to call me 'Bambino.' "

E. "I've got to remember to put in a defensive replacement at first base."

F. "What's next on my 'must-do' list? Oh yeah. That's it: Save the bullpen for Game 8."
