WR Leggett selects Gators over Hurricanes

The Florida Gators have pledged Top 150 receiver Lance Leggett of Arlington-Grace Prep, Tex., over Miami-Florida. Among others were Oklahoma, Purdue and Texas A&M. The Gators recently gained defensive lineman Brandon Daniel of Pompano Beach-Ely, Fla., over North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Kansas State and Virginia Tech.

Quarterback Taylor Bennett of Ballwin-Lafayette, Mo., who committed/decommitted from both Georgia Tech and Boise State, has signed with Georgia Tech.

Defensive lineman Justin Johnson of CC of San Francisco, Cal., has committed to California.

Minnesota has pledged defensive back Hussain Shakir of Camden-Woodrow Wilson, NJ., over Rutgers and Tulane.

Defensive lineman Kenny Love of Pennington-The Pennington School, NJ., picked Indiana over Clemson, Michigan State and Pittsburgh.

BYU has pledged receiver Joe Griffin of Grossmont CC, Cal. The Cougars recently signed junior college receivers Todd Watkins of LaMesa-Helix, Cal/Grossmont CC, Cal; and Riley Weber of Glendale CC, Ariz. BYU also gained a verbal from defensive back Greg Lovely of San Jose-Gunderson, Cal/Foothill CC, Cal.

San Diego State has a commitment from receiver Marcus Montgomery of Oceanside, Cal., over San Jose State, Arizona and Oregon State. The Aztecs recently gained linebacker Russell Allen of Vista, Cal., who was named San Diego County Defensive Player of the Year. He also considered Arizona, Colorado State and Wyoming.

Defensive back Robert Herbert of Compton CC, Cal., picked Colorado State. The Rams recently gained running back Tramell McGill of Chandler-Hamilton, Ariz; and tight end/defensive lineman Kory Sperry of Pueblo-Pueblo County, Colo.

Defensive lineman Brian Soi of Provo-Tempview, Utah/Hargrave MA, Va., who picked BYU as a prep, is headed to Utah State.

Defensive lineman John Najm of Fremont, Cal/Laney CC, Cal., is the fifth junior college prospect to sign with Arkansas State.
