· Ryan finished 2nd to Matt Savoie at the 1998 Novice Nationals, took gold at the junior level at 1999 Nationals, and moved up to the senior level this year.

· Ryan started skating at the age of 2, following his older sister Becky to the rink. "I was learning to skate as I was learning to walk," he says.

· From 1996-99, he competed with Tiffany Vise in novice pairs events. Right after winning the 1999 Junior National men's title, he decided to end the grueling regimen of 5 sessions a day at the rink and conserve energy for his singles skating.
