Manny Ramirez: A life in photos
By Mike Philbrick
Welcome to the World of Manny Ramirez where the price of admission is ... well, we're not sure, but we do know it's apparently about $45 million for two years.
When we first met Manny in Cleveland, he was half the character he is today, opting to spend his time on things like clubbing the Indians to two World Series appearances. Still, the seeds were clearly sown when Manny would do such things as leaving his paycheck (something he clearly loves) in a pair of boots, which he did in 1995. This incident led then-Cleveland skipper Mike Hargrove to tell then-Newsday reporter Jon Heyman, "That's just Manny being Manny." And so the legend was born.
Manny was photographed for this media day from the waist up because he forgot to wear pants. OK, that's not true, but it's Manny, so you know you believed it for a second. Come on, you know you did.
