Last Saturday James Stewart clinched the 2009 AMA Supercross Championship at the final round in Las Vegas, crowning him the King of Supercross. And guess what? The ASR done caught Stewart fever. So while we recuperate here's a deeper look inside Stewart's amazing weekend.
1. WHO'S CHAD REED?
In the previous round in Salt Lake City, Stewart's teammate Kyle Chisholm was accused of trying to take out rival and defending champ Chad Reed on the final lap. In the post race interview Reed dismissively scoffed, "Kyle Chisholm…who's that guy?" Famous last words. On the day of the Vegas race one of Stewart's fans handed out these t-shirts in the pits. So, who is Chad Reed? The former champ.

Check the smile on that young man. It's called pure joy.
3. MOTO HERO
As a congratulatory gift for claiming the title Red Bull gave Stewart a custom guitar sized Guitar Hero controller. Unlike the cheapy plastic version this one is made from two kinds of wood, has fifteen clear coats and is emblazoned with Stewart's No. 7 and alter ego, "Rick" James Stewart. The handcrafted axe took several weeks to construct and is valued at $3000.
4. FEELING BLEU
"There's something incredible about him. He's just so amazing. I've been to a bunch of Supercross races and I can't get enough of James Stewart."
—High School Musical star Corbin Bleu who says he wants to be the Jack Nicholson of Supercross.
5. A BALLER'S LIFE
The night before the race Stewart took his fiancÚ Brianna Chavarria out to a quiet dinner at the Wynn Hotel & Casino. Price tag: $1,000. Don't sweat the loose change. For winning the title the next night he pocketed a check for 100K.
5. STEWART BY THE NUMBERS
-At 23 years and five months Stewart is the youngest rider ever to reach 36 wins.
-His 36 Ws puts him third on the all-time wins list behind Jeremy McGrath (72) and Ricky Carmichael (48).
-In order to break McGrath's record he would have to average six wins a year for the next six years. Plus one. This season he won 11.
-His 3rd place finish in Vegas marks his lowest ever finish in a race in which he didn't crash.
6. CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN
Yes he did.
7. NOT AVAILABLE IN STORES
Stewart is a big basketball fan and much like NBA hoopsters break out one-off sneaks at the All-Star game or NBA Finals, Stewart gets hooked up with special goodies reserved for top dogs as well. Check out his custom painted Alpinestars Tech 10 boots.
8. CONSOLATION PRIZE
After the race on the second place podium Chad Reed seemed particularly distraught. Reed would have been the first repeat champion since Ricky Carmichael in 2002-2003. Now Stewart's come from behind championship was being hailed as one of the most thrilling ever. Not to worry. Later that night Reed hit the tables and won $8,000.
