QB Bolden set to announce choice

Quarterback Robert Bolden (Orchard Lake, Mich./St. Mary's) is set to announce his college choice. He will make his announcement at 9:30 am on Friday at St. Mary's High School.

Bolden has 23 scholarship offers, but has narrowed his choices down to Penn State, Oregon, Louisville, Northwestern and Vanderbilt according to his father, Robert Bolden Sr.

However, Bolden recently visited Penn State and came away very impressed. The Nittany Lions may be poised to add a second top quarterback to their 2010 recruiting class.

P.J. Jones (McKees Rocks, Pa./Sto-Rox) committed to Penn State in January, but Joe Paterno wants to sign two quarterbacks this recruiting season. If Paterno is able to sign both Jones and Bolden, he will have a terrific duo as potential replacements for Daryll Clark who is going into his final season at the helm of the Nittany Lions' offense.

Ohio speedster names favorite

One of the fastest prospects in the Midwest, defensive back Latwan Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville), estimates his scholarship offer list to stand at over 40.

However, Anderson says he is focused on a half dozen schools.

"I've got about six schools I'm looking at, West Virginia, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Miami and Michigan State," Anderson said. "West Virginia is my favorite. I really like their coaches. I enjoy talking to them. And I like the family environment with the players."

Anderson, who has run the 100-meter dash in 10.4 seconds, intercepted four passes during his junior season at Lakewood St. Edward. He also had six touchdowns playing wide receiver and returning punts and kickoffs. Anderson transferred to Glenville during the spring and ran track for the Tarblooders.

"Most of the schools are recruiting me as a safety," Anderson said. "But Michigan State wants me to play cornerback."
