Franchione dismisses player
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M junior linebacker Randall Webb has been dismissed from the football team, coach Dennis Franchione announced Monday.
Franchione had earlier indefinitely suspended Webb for violating team rules. The Aggies also will be without linebacker Brandon Johnson, who is scholastically ineligible.
The new Aggie coaching staff will greet 105 veterans and freshmen Tuesday with the first workout set for Wednesday.
Tight end Joey Thomas from Austin Westlake High School and Tate Pittman, a defensive lineman from Odessa Permian High School, are injured and not expected to be among the players reporting.
The Aggies host Arkansas State Aug. 30 in their season opener.
