PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns will open their preseason schedule at home Oct. 7 against Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets.

It's the first time in three years that the Suns have opened their exhibition schedule at America West Arena.

The eight-game preseason schedule, announced Friday, includes two-game sets against Denver, the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland, as well as a single game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Suns play at Denver on Oct. 9, then at home against the Nuggets on Oct. 11. Neither of the Lakers games are in Phoenix. The Suns play the Lakers in San Diego on Oct. 14 and at the Staples Center on Oct. 16 as part of the L.A. Shootout. Phoenix plays the Clippers in the L.A. Shootout on Oct. 14.

The Suns conclude preseason play with a pair of games against the Trail Blazers -- at Portland on Oct. 22 and at Phoenix on Oct. 24.

Phoenix opens its regular season at San Antonio on Oct. 28.
