Rockets sign free agent F-G Griffin

HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets added a solid defensive player Thursday, signing free agent forward Adrian Griffin.

Terms were not disclosed.

Griffin, 29, spent the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks and is regarded as a solid defensive presence. He ranked ninth in the NBA in steals last season at 1.04 per contest while averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 74 games.

"Adrian brings a defensive tenacity to the floor," Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson said. "He is a tireless worker and his hustle will provide a spark for our team. Our main focus during this offseason has been to add players that will be a good fit in our system and Adrian is just that."

Griffin, who spent his first two seasons with Boston, has career averages of 5.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in 248 games.
