COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State announced Monday that guard Emonte Jernigan won't return to the team for his senior season.

Jernigan, who played just one season with the Buckeyes, left the team for personal reasons, coach Jim O'Brien said.

Jernigan transferred to Ohio State after playing one season each at Santa Rosa (Calif.) Junior College and Oregon State. With the Buckeyes in 2002-03, Jernigan averaged 4.1 points in 31 games, including seven starts.

"We appreciated the contributions Emonte made to our team last year," O'Brien said. "We wish him success in whatever he decides to do."
