BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU front court starter Jaime Lloreda has been disciplined by coach John Brady for breaking a teammate's jaw in a scuffle that broke out during a conditioning workout.

Brady would not say what Lloreda's punishment was, nor would he provide details on the altercation.

"This incident was handled internally with our team," Brady said. "I feel confident in the steps that were taken. It is a situation we handled immediately and one I take seriously."

LSU athletics spokesman Kent Lowe said Lloreda would remain on the team.

WAFB-TV, which reported the incident before Brady commented on the matter publicly, identified the player injured by Lloreda as Paul Wolfert, who will be a sophomore next season.

Last season, Lloreda averaged more than 12 points a game and led the Tigers with about nine rebounds per game.

Lloreda, who is 6-foot-9 and can play forward or center, is entering his senior year. He is the leading scorer among players returning for next season.

Lloreda wasn't available for comment Wednesday because he was in Panama visiting family.
