Oral Roberts recruit doesn't enroll
TULSA, Okla. -- Junior college transfer Larry Owens has not enrolled at Oral Roberts, and coach Scott Sutton says he hopes the forward will join the Golden Eagles at the semester break.
The 6-foot-7 transfer from Yavapai (Ariz.) Community College did not enroll by Thursday, the first day of classes at Oral Roberts.
"We're disappointed Larry will not be with us when we start the season," Sutton said in a statement issued by the school. "However, we're hopeful that he will be joining us at mid-term."
Privacy laws prevented the university from disclosing further details, spokesman Cory Rogers said Friday.
Oral Roberts has been counting on Owens to replace Reggie Borges and Kendrick Moore, front-line performers who finished their careers last season, and 6-foot-10 Cameron Tragardh, who left school this summer.
Oral Robert's five other basketball newcomers, led by 6-foot-7 Memorial High freshman Caleb Green, were enrolled Thursday.
