About 400 student tickets left for NU football
LINCOLN, Neb. -- About 400 Nebraska student football season tickets still remain on sale, but ticket manager John Anderson predicted Friday that all would be sold before the Cornhuskers' Aug. 30 opener against Oklahoma State.
"Once school starts," he said, "they'll gobble them up."
The fall semester at the university starts Aug. 25.
Memorial Stadium's 8,200-seat student section sold out three to four months in advance each of the past two seasons.
Anderson said he has seen no indication that the slow sales are due to the fact Nebraska is coming off its worst season since 1961. The cost for student season tickets is $147 each, which includes seven homes games.
He said the rapid sales of the last two years stemmed from the highly anticipated home game against Notre Dame in 2001 and last season coming off the heels of the Cornhuskers' appearance in the national championship Rose Bowl.
"I'd like to have them all sold right now, but this is the pace we usually have minus the last two years," Anderson said. "Don't worry. We'll get these things sold." ^----<
