CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Oregon State quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Ryan Gunderson each threw touchdown passes and Kirk Yliniemi kicked three field goals in a scrimmage Saturday at Prothro Field.

Anderson completed 8-of-18 passes for 136 yards and a score, as coach Mike Riley gave his starters the opening four series. Ylimiemi hit on a pair of 47-yard field goals and added a 49-yarder with room to spare.

"I was disappointed in a couple of things, but every time we step on the field I will be disappointed in something," Riley said. "As far as playing football, there was some give and take. The offense made some plays and the defense made some plays, I was pleased that everyone had a chance to play."

Gunderson, a true freshman, was 6-for-9 for 80 yards and two scores.

Another impressive performance was turned in by freshman Yvenson Bernard, who ran 45 yards on 10 carries, including a 26-yard run.

"His teammates really appreciate his toughness. They were all hootin' and hollerin' about Yvenson's play," Riley said. "This wasn't an eye opener for us today, as he has been impressive in practices. We have discussed the redshirt issue among the coaching staff and right now we are trying to determine if we can find a place to play him this season."

The Beavers hold their final preseason scrimmage at Prothro Field on Tuesday. Oregon State opens its season at home against Sacramento State on Aug. 28.
