LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Steve Tennies completed 20-of-37 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns Saturday, giving Wisconsin-La Crosse a 28-24 win over South Dakota, its 200th home win and its first 3-0 start since 1996.
La Crosse's Scott Burnoski had nine catches for 178 yards, including a first quarter touchdown catch from Tennies for 52 yards.
South Dakota's Wes Beschorner rushed 15 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown. Stefan Logan added 102 yards rushing on eight trips and scored once.
The USD Coyotes outrushed La Crosse 282-161 but were three-of-11 in third-down conversions.
Andrew Macadlo's 7-yard touchdown run to start the fourth period for La Crosse was the game's final scoring.
UWL was ranked 12th in NCAA Division III. South Dakota (2-1) was ranked 23rd in Division II.
