St. John's, Minn. 35, Gustavus Adolphus 13
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- Josh Nelson and Ryan Keating each had two touchdowns for second-ranked St. John's as they beat Gustavus Adolphus 35-13 Saturday.
The Johnnies (4-0, 3-0 MIAC) jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back after Blake Elliot returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. Nelson added another 21-yard rushing touchdown before the quarter was over.
The Gusties (2-3, 2-2) got two touchdown passes from Sean Smith, who finished with 220 yards but was sacked five times by the Johnnie defense. Drew Sifter caught a touchdown pass and rushed for another, to finish with 62 yards for the day.
Keating completed 26 of 34 passes for 240 yards but was sacked four times.
