BATON ROUGE, La. -- Quincy Richard threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns to keep Southern undefeated with a 53-7 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday night.
Richard hit Vernon James for touchdowns of 59 and 11 yards while running for a 14-yard score himself to help the Jaguars (5-0, 3-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) build a 33-0 halftime lead.
Richard also led Southern in rushing with 78 yards and finished with two rushing touchdowns. Richard hit 14 of 16 passes and never turned the ball over.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-4, 1-2) scored its only touchdown in the third quarter on Billy Moody's 25-yard run. Moody finished with 122 rushing yards.
John Pierce was 9-of-23 for 142 yards passing for Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He threw two interceptions, one of them returned 98 yards for a score by Lenny Williams, a Southern record for an interception return.
Richard's other touchdown passes were for 20 yards to Drayton Bridges and 6 yards to Roderick Jones.
