GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Joe Krile returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, and Kevin Miller and Brandon Charles each ran for two TDs as Mesa State defeated Western State 49-27 on Saturday night.

Mesa (4-1, 2-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) amassed 408 yards rushing, led by Charles Dukes with 96. Miller finished with 71 yards and Charles with 62.

Jeff Mowry was 6-of-9 passing for 151 yards and ran for one touchdown, Mesa's first score of the game.

Chaumont Bouknight ran for 196 yards for Western (2-3, 2-1). Nate Baca was 14-of-29 passing for 264 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. Baca also ran for a touchdown.

Jim Bair had four receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown for Western. Boyd Sorem caught an 18-yard TD pass.

Travis Snyder kicked two field goals for Western, including a 44-yarder in the third period.
