Gunn returning as TCU's starting QB
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Tye Gunn will return as TCU's starting quarterback when the No. 18 Horned Frogs play Friday night at South Florida.
Gunn, a sophomore who is 6-0 as a starter, missed the last three starts for the Frogs (5-0, 2-0 Conference USA) after separating his right (throwing) shoulder in practice Sept. 9. He completed 6 of 10 passes for 103 yards while playing four series in a 27-0 win over Army on Saturday.
While coach Gary Patterson doesn't really like using a quarterback rotation, he expects Gunn and Brandon Hassell to both play against South Florida. (3-1, 2-0).
Hassell, a fourth-year junior, had never thrown a pass in a game before winning the last three starts. Hassell was 13-of-21 for 162 yards and two touchdowns against Army, and was 40-of-75 for 635 yards with four TDs and just one interception in his three starts.
