James has flu, still undecided for Panthers game

INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts running back Edgerrin James missed practice again Friday, this time because of the flu.

James, who missed the last two games with a sore back, is expected to return to practice Saturday but a decision on whether he will play against Carolina on Sunday probably will not be made until just before kickoff.

"Edge today just wasn't feeling well," coach Tony Dungy said. "Back-wise, everything was fine, but he's got some flulike symptoms. We've had that with a couple of guys, so we kind of let him stay away from everybody. But I think, soreness-wise, he was OK."

James has taken part in just four practices since he first injured his back against Jacksonville on Sept. 21. The two-time NFL rushing champion missed an entire week of practice before the Colts' game at New Orleans on Sept. 28, and after practicing twice last week, James did not play at Tampa Bay on Monday night.

Offensive tackle Tarik Glenn, backup running back James Mungro and starting defensive tackle Montae Reagor returned to practice Friday. All three have sprained knees and missed practice the last two days.
