Texas Southern 7, Ark.-Pine Bluff 6
PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Jermaine Joseph had the only touchdown in Texas Southern's 7-6 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Saturday, on a 5-yard run late in the first quarter.
Texas Southern (3-3, 2-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) had 145 yards total offense against Arkansas-Pine Bluff's 290. The Tigers defense sacked the Golden Lions' John Pierce four times, twice by Billy Starling.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-5, 1-4) scored on a pair of field goals in the second half by Michael Seller, for 28 and 23 yards. Seller missed a 29-yard attempt with 2:48 in the fourth.
Pierce threw 12-of-28 for 158 yards, including a 62-yard completion to Brian Miller. Cedric Bowen led the Golden Lions in rushing, with 79 yards on 13 carries. They were hurt by 10 penalties for a loss of 76 yards.
The Tigers' Gerred Lunnon was 8-of-22 for 60 yards and was sacked three times. Joseph had 18 yards on 6 carries.
