Plummer not in starting lineup

DENVER -- Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer did not start Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of a shoulder injury.

Plummer was suited up and available, but Steve Beuerlein started in place of Plummer and threw an interception on the Broncos' first play from scrimmage.

Plummer was listed as questionable on the Broncos' injury report.

Plummer partially separated his throwing shoulder four weeks ago against San Diego, then aggravated the injury last Sunday against Kansas City.

Too sore to practice Wednesday, Plummer practiced Thursday and Friday but wasn't asked to throw the ball more than 20 yards.

Beuerlein got significant work in practice all week.
