Davidson RB Leverett among I-AA Players of the Week

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey - Davidson running back John Leverett, who rushed for 259 yards, was among the ESPN/USA Today Division I-AA Players of the Week named on Monday.

Leverett carried a school-record 36 times and scored on runs of eight and 71 yards in a 37-29 win over Jacksonville. He collected 202 of his yards in the second half.

Eastern Kentucky linebacker Jerome Jones and Western Carolina kick returner Xavier Godard were were named Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.

Jones had nine tackles and an interception in a 41-0 win over Eastern Illinois. The junior also deflected a pass and blocked a field goal attempt.

Godard returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in a 37-25 loss to Georgia Southern.
