Bulldogs football coach withdraws name from Arizona vacancy
FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State football coach Pat Hill said Friday he was withdrawing his name from consideration for the vacancy at Arizona.
Hill's commitment to remain at Fresno State followed news the school was forming a fund-raising support group to raise money for Bulldog athletics.
The Green V Association, which will work closely with Fresno State's Bulldog Foundation and the Fresno State Quarterback Club, will assume fund-raising efforts for a new academic center and football locker room.
Hill, in his seventh season at Fresno State, has a 49-34 record with the Bulldogs going to a bowl game the last four years.
Arizona fired John Mackovic on Sept. 28, and named defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz as interim coach for the remainder of the season. Athletic director Jim Livengood said a national search was planned to find a successor.
